Rest, renew, and restore your relationship with God at The Cherith.
Then the word of the Lord came to him,
saying, "Get away from here and turn
eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith,
which flows into the Jordan. And it will
be that you shall drink from the brook,
and I have command the ravens to
feed you there."
1 Kings 17
A Place Set Apart
The name The Cherith comes from the biblical account of Elijah in 1 Kings 17. During a difficult and uncertain season, the Lord told Elijah: “Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith…” — 1 Kings 17:3
There, away from everything familiar, God provided for Elijah. He gave him water from the brook and sent ravens to bring him food. It was a hidden place—a place where the Lord provided all that Elijah needed. That picture is at the heart of The Cherith.
We believe there are times when we all need to come away from the noise and demands of everyday life—to be still, seek the Lord, listen for His voice, and allow Him to refresh us. Our prayer is that The Cherith is your place of rest, renewal, and restoration as you seek the Lord.

The Cherith is not simply a place we want people to visit. It is a place we want God to use. Whether you are looking for a place to retreat, gather, pray, meet, host a ministry event, or simply spend a few quiet days seeking the Lord, we would love to hear from you.

Our Story
The Cherith is a secluded place. A place away from the world and the busyness of life. It’s a place that God provided for us to walk into. God provided all the provisions for us to fulfill what He put into our heart.
"Cherith" means a cutting away. For us we believe that productive “cutting” happens when we are away with our Father, the vinedresser. The Vinedresser cuts away nonproductive branches. John 15:1-27 teaches that there is a place and time for God to prepare you for what He has next.
He is ready to speak to you, are you ready to stop your busyness to hear His voice? He calls you away to speak tenderly to you and it’s not in the wind, fire or earthquake…it’s in a gentle whisper.
The Brook “CHERITH”
Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah; “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Cherith Ravine, east of the Jordon. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.”Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him; “Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to feed you. So he went to Zarephath. - 1 Kings 17: 2-4, 7-10
And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper. - 1 Kings 19:11-13
“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. - Hosea 2:14
